On Starter and Practice there is nothing to do here: we run the AI for you and it is included in the plan. This guide is for the Enterprise plan, where the firm uses its own AI account. You pay the AI provider directly, at their published rates, and we never add anything on top.
It takes about ten minutes. You need a card for the AI account, and one person at the firm who will keep a recovery phrase safe.
Part 1: Open the AI account and create an access code
1. Go to platform.claude.com and create an account, or sign in if the firm already has one. 2. Open the Billing page in the console and set up payment. The provider bills the firm directly for what it uses. 3. Go to Settings → API keys and click Create key. 4. Fill in the form: - Name: something you will recognise, such as Avantwerk. - Workspace: choose one workspace. A code that covers several workspaces does not work with Avantwerk. - Expiration: pick a date and put a reminder in the diary to make a new code before it. - Linked account: a personal code stops working if that person leaves the firm's account. If your firm uses a service account, link the code to that instead. 5. Copy the code. It starts with sk-ant- and is shown only once. If you lose it, simply create a new one.
Part 2: Connect it to Avantwerk
On an Enterprise workspace, Avantwerk opens Connect your AI account at first setup. You can change the code later in Settings.
1. Click Continue, paste the code into Paste your access code, then click Encrypt and save it. The code is encrypted on your computer; we never receive it. 2. Write down your recovery phrase. You can show it as 24 words or as one long code; they are the same thing. It is the only backup: we cannot recover the code for you. 3. Click Check it now. Avantwerk sends one very short request to your AI account. It costs a fraction of a penny and confirms everything works.
That's it. Every AI request now runs on the firm's own account.
If the check fails
- Make sure you copied the whole code, starting with
sk-ant-. - Make sure payment is set up on the Billing page.
- Make sure the code was created for a single workspace.
- Still stuck? Create a new code and paste that one instead. It costs nothing to try again.
