Into an encrypted vault your firm controls, on your own computer, or on a server your firm runs. We do not hold your case file. Text can leave for documented AI steps including an automatic upload summary, a draft or analysis request, or AI-assisted dictation clean-up. Request-applicable privilege and pseudonymisation controls run, but a text pass cannot see names embedded only in pixels, and dictation clean-up deliberately sends the dictated text and selected matter vocabulary. On managed routes the text passes through our AI service in Germany to the configured provider; our relay is not built to store request or response text.

A check that runs in your browser before anything reaches the AI. On the attended England and Wales path, protected or unknown material triggers a per-request warning. The attending solicitor may override that warning for the request; no answer or a refusal blocks the send. The recorded product decision does not establish client authority or decide whether privilege is waived.

Bennovate does not use matter content to train models. Provider use and retention depend on the active managed account or your firm’s BYOK order and configuration. We confirm the contracted entity, current terms, retention, processing region and transfer safeguards from account and contract evidence before treating them as procurement facts; we do not claim universal zero retention or a universal provider no-training term.

On Solo, the vault keeps an encrypted backup copy on a second drive or network share you choose. If the computer dies, that copy is what you recover from, unlocked with the 24-word recovery phrase you stored at setup.

No. On Solo, setup asks for a second drive or network share and does not open casework until a verified encrypted copy is written there. After that the copy is refreshed automatically while the vault service runs. Your one job is to keep the 24-word recovery phrase somewhere safe and separate, without it, the copy cannot be unlocked on another computer.

The attended registry stops 10 consequential skills for a human decision, covering eight drafting skills, one filing skill and one signing skill. The reviewer can approve, reject or modify. Direct and unregistered paths are outside that guarantee, so this is not a claim that every consequential product action is human-gated.

A credit is one pound of AI usage. A call costs what it actually costs us to run, times a fixed multiplier, so a short draft costs pennies and a long research pass costs more, and you can see the balance move. There is no unit to decode and no token count to read. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and you can top up at any time.

On Starter and Practice, no, we manage the key, with zero setup. On Enterprise you bring your own AI-provider key, so your usage is billed directly by your provider at their rates, never marked up by us.

A best-effort record of events successfully written on covered paths. Rows are HMAC-authenticated and chain-linked, with closed-day seals and surfaced write failures. It is tamper-evident when checked with the firm-held key, not tamper-proof; the export cannot verify itself and is supporting evidence rather than proof that every AI step was captured.

Native. Each market is built to its own legal frame and regulator language, drafting, checks and court forms are authored locally, not machine-translated. A UK matter is built to the England & Wales frame from the first keystroke, it never inherits another market’s clause set.

The compliance work is built to the rules you practise under, the SRA Standards and Regulations, and UK GDPR (Data Protection Act 2018). Market-native content is reviewed internally by the applicable native counsel fleet.
