FAQ

The questions a careful firm asks.

What happens to your client data, whether it acts on its own, how billing works, which jurisdictions it is native to — answered plainly. If your question is not here, the demo answers most of the rest.

Your data & privilege

Where does my client data go?
It stays in your browser. Matter data lives in your browser’s local storage on your own machine — it is not uploaded to us. When you ask the AI to draft or analyse, only the specific text you send for that one step leaves, and the privilege gate checks it first.
What is the privilege gate?
A check that runs in your browser before anything reaches the AI. It warns you before privileged material would leave your machine — the line is drawn before the send, not after — and where a duty of confidentiality is absolute it can hard-block outright. Privileged documents never leave your machine unless you explicitly allow it.
Do you train AI on my data?
No. Your matter content is never used to train a model. An AI call is made only to produce your draft or analysis for that request; it is not retained to train anything.
What happens to my data if I stop?
It was always in your browser, so it stays with you. There is no vendor database of your matters to reclaim — export what you need and close the tab.
What happens if my computer dies or I clear the browser?
Your cases live in a folder you choose on your own computer — not just inside the browser. Every save writes the case there, along with what the assistant has learned from your documents. Reconnect that folder on any machine and your whole practice comes back. (Folder connection works in Chrome and Edge on desktop; on other browsers you use the one-file backup instead.)
Do I have to remember to back up?
No. With a folder connected it happens by itself — every case on every save, and your firm-wide memory (precedent bank, playbooks, what the assistant learns, the audit ledger) on every change. Settings also has a one-click backup of everything into a single file, for any browser.

How it works

Does it act on its own?
Never. It drafts; you review, edit and sign. There is a human on every consequential step by design — the oversight other tools bury in an enterprise tier is on for every firm, from day one.
What is a credit?
A credit is one pound of AI usage. A call costs what it actually costs us to run, times a fixed multiplier, so a short draft costs pennies and a long research pass costs more — and you can see the balance move. There is no unit to decode and no token count to read. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance, and you can top up at any time.
Do I need my own AI key (BYOK)?
On Starter and Practice, no — we manage the key, with zero setup. On Enterprise you bring your own AI-provider key, so your usage is billed directly by your provider at their rates, never marked up by us.
What is the signed reasoning ledger?
A signed, chain-linked log of every AI step, exportable in one click. If your regulator asks how AI was used on a matter, you hand them evidence rather than an open question.

Jurisdiction & compliance

Is it really native to my jurisdiction, or translated?
Native. Each market is built to its own legal frame and regulator language — drafting, checks and court forms are authored locally, not machine-translated. A UK matter is built to the England & Wales frame from the first keystroke — it never inherits another market’s clause set.
Which regulators does it account for?
The compliance work is built to the rules you practise under — the SRA Standards and Regulations, and UK GDPR (Data Protection Act 2018). Sign-off by a practising solicitor is part of launch.
Where is it hosted?
The product runs in your browser; there is no central store of your matters. On Enterprise (bring your own key) AI requests go straight from your browser to your own provider’s API. On Starter and Practice they pass through our broker service on the way — it forwards the request and counts your monthly allowance; it records usage counts, never matter content, and stores no requests. Full sub-processor detail is in the privacy notice on this site.

Pricing & plans

How much does it cost?
Flat per seat, per month, with a generous monthly allowance. The pricing page shows your market’s exact figures — every number there is rendered from one source, so it can’t differ from what you’re billed.
Is there a minimum number of seats?
Starter is for one or two fee-earners. Practice is built for around five seats with a three-seat floor. Below three seats, Starter is the plan.
What about VAT?
It is business-to-business, so most firms self-account (reverse charge) or reclaim input VAT — the exact wording for your market is on the pricing page. Prices are shown net.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. A populated demo runs a fictional matter through the whole product in minutes — no card, no commitment. There is also a trial.

Honesty about status

Is it finished, or still being built?
We’re pre-launch and we don’t hide it. The capabilities page lists every capability with its real status, checked against the code — roadmap items aren’t dressed up as done. Book a demo and you’ll see exactly what runs.

Still deciding? Watch it run.

The populated demo answers most of what a FAQ can’t — a fictional matter, start to finish, in minutes. No card, no contract — a work email and your firm’s name, so we know who we’re talking to.
